BOQ’s Owner-Managed model is unique to the Banking industry and one which we are very proud of. We have over 200 sites across Australia and are looking for new Owner-Managers to open new sites and also take on existing sites that may come up for sale from time to time.

Who can become an Owner-Manager?
If you have previous lending experience from within a financial services environment and would like to develop a portfolio of customers while being a business owner we would love to hear from you.
How do I become an Owner-Manager?
Outlined below is our recruitment and accreditation process. It’s all done in 9 easy steps.
1. Initial enquiry
(You can either send an enquiry online or contact Liam or Tony in our franchise services team by phone – their contact details can be found here.
2. Phone Conversation
Depending on which State you are interested in Liam or Tony will contact you for a discussion to make sure you have all the information you need. They will do a brief assessment over the phone to see if you appear to have the right skills and experience to become an Owner-Manger for BOQ.
3. Face to Face Meeting
This will take place at one of our offices depending on where you are located. At this meeting you can ask as many questions as you like about our unique model and we will also ask you questions about your career aspirations, skills and experience.
4. Skills and Background review
This review is designed to give us some guidance on your suitability towards running your own franchise business.
5. Preparation of Business Plan & Cashflow Analysis
We will then ask you to present us with a business plan of what you propose to do with the particular site. This will help us identify what additional information you may need from us and vice versa.
6. Meet other Owner-Managers
We strongly encourage you to meet with as many other current Owner-Managers so that you can find out from them what being an Owner-Manager is all about.
7. Meet with Senior Management
This is an opportunity to meet with some of the senior management team to find out more about the strategic direction of BOQ and see for yourself how passionate they are about our model and brand.
8. Offer and Appointment
Once everything is in order BOQ will present you with an offer outlining the terms of the agreement and your appointment will be confirmed.
9. Induction and commencement of Training
As a BOQ Owner-Manager you will undergo training on our systems, policies and procedures as well as attend a formal induction program.

How much does it cost?

What experience do I require to become an Owner-Manager?
Experience as a retail and/or small business lender is essential.
Will I receive any training?
Yes. We have an extensive training program and also on-going support from many different areas of BOQ including the Regional Management team, credit and policy teams, specialist sales teams and many more.
What is the Owner-Manager responsible for?
Like any independent business owner you will be responsible for employing and managing your own staff and all other operating costs associated with running a business.
It is the Owner-Manager’s responsibility to operate their Branch according to the Bank's policies and procedures.
What is BOQ responsible for?
BOQ is responsible for overall brand, policy, product, and operating procedures and will provide all Owner-Managers with support in all these areas.
What’s the difference between a new site and existing site?
A new site is where an Owner-Manager will develop the customer base at a location of their choice (subject the BOQ's approval and confirmation).
Alternatively an existing site is one where there is an existing branch premise and customer base.

Do I have to have previous experience in running my own business?
There are a lot of things to learn when you are new to running your own business so previous experience would be really helpful.
Do I have to work in the Branch?
As the name of Owner-Manager suggests – the Owner is the Manager of the Branch.
BOQ's model is all about providing personal service to our customers so we encourage our Owner-Managers to be the “face” of the branch and develop and maintain the relationship with your customers – with assistance from your staff of course.
Can I have a business partner?
Yes. However, it is a requirement that each business partner be accredited by BOQ.
Can I buy multiple branches?
From time to time BOQ will consider multiple Branch ownership.
