Bank of Queensland has cemented its reputation as a major supporter of Queensland sport with the announcement of a sponsorship deal with Basketball Queensland.
The deal follows the announcement earlier this month that Bank of Queensland would sponsor the Queensland Rugby Union team, the Bank of Queensland Reds, for another three years.
It builds on BOQ's ongoing support for AFL competition leaders Brisbane Lions and for the Brisbane Bullets and Townsville Crocs basketball teams.
The deal with Basketball Queensland will enable the State Finals of the Australian Basketball League Series - now known as the Bank of Queensland QABL Finals - to be broadcast on television, showcasing the State's talent across the nation.
The Australian Basketball Association is the top level of competition in domestic basketball and is a great breeding ground for the NBL and WNBL competitions.
Head of Marketing Mark Franzmann said Bank of Queensland was committed to supporting the community, whether through its service-focused attitude to community banking or by supporting valuable sporting and social organisations.
"Basketball Queensland is an organisation with significant grass roots community participation and we are delighted to be able to assist in bringing this increasingly popular sport to a wider audience throughout the community", Mr Franzmann said.
"The Bank of Queensland QABL Finals are integral to the growth and development of basketball in Queensland."
"Bank of Queensland's sponsorship has made it possible for them to be telecast to regional Queensland where there is strong and growing support for the sport."
The finals will be held from 30 August to 1 September, and will be telecast on Channel 7 (Regional) on Sunday 8 September at 11.30am.
The winners of the Bank of Queensland QABL Final Series will travel to Bendigo, Victoria, to compete in the National Finals from 13 to 15 September.
