The New Year has begun with a fresh start and plenty of new faces for Bank of Queensland's Cairns operation, with the local community to benefit from the expansion and re-focusing of our team.
Business owners in particular will gain from greater attention to their needs, with the Bank appointing a new Portfolio Manager and two new commerce-focused Branch Managers and beginning the search for an Area Manager with heavy experience in business.
When appointed, the new Area Manager will have direct responsibility for sourcing new Business Banking customers, an indication of the importance of commercial clients to the Bank's business.
The new Portfolio Manager is Dan Carmody who brings two decades of diverse experience in banking and finance to assist business customers throughout the Cairns area.
Dan, who has extensive small business experience, has lectured at QUT in financial risk management and is a Senior Associate of the Australian Institute of Bankers.
He believes his "hands-on" focus will allow him to better service his business customers' needs.
"I know first-hand how a business operates and the pressures acting on them allowing me to fully understand and assist my customers," he said.
"My practical approach is to focus on developing long-term solutions rather than quick fixes for the customers."
Stephen Zeller will draw on his 14 years' banking industry experience as new Manager of the Cairns Branch in Spence Street.
His work in business banking combined with his experience in customer lending will ensure brilliant service for his personal as well as his business customers.
"We want to give all our customers a very pleasant banking experience every time they walk through the door or contact the branch," Mr Zeller said.
"My staff are friendly and courteous and eager to assist the customer."
Long-time Cairns resident Michelle Williams will provide similarly top-line service as the new Branch Manager at Cairns Stockland, her strong background in lending giving her a solid personal insight into the needs of her customers.
As with all Bank of Queensland branches, Stephen and Michelle really are the local bank managers - permanently based in the branch to assist their customers.
Unlike other banks, they can also make most lending decisions themselves without having to refer to Head Office or a central Loan Approval Centre in a different city.
