BOQ opens in the heart of Bulimba

Bank of Queensland (BOQ) continued its support of Brisbane’s inner-city suburbs today with the opening of a new locally owned and managed branch in the booming suburb of Bulimba.

Federal Member for Griffith and Shadow Foreign Minister, Kevin Rudd, officially declared the new branch open at a community celebration with Bank of Queensland Managing Director David Liddy and BOQ Bulimba Owner-Manager Michael Rose.

Mr Rudd said banks are an essential service for local communities, especially an area such as Bulimba, which has been experiencing strong growth for the past few years.

“Banking services are an important factor in the social and economic well-being of an area and the opening of the new BOQ Bulimba branch will inject even more life into the bustling suburb of Bulimba,” Mr Rudd said.

With more than 25 years banking experience, BOQ Bulimba Owner-Manager Michael Rose said he was looking forward to bringing his banking knowledge along with friendly, face-to-face service to the fast-growing inner-city suburb.

“I am here to support the community with all their personal and business banking needs while offering great customer service as well as extended trading hours including Saturday mornings – an added convenience for my customers,” Mr Rose said.

“I’m looking forward to a new era in banking for Bulimba and really making a difference in the way the residents and business people can do their banking, simply by providing genuine person2person™ service,” he said.

“I encourage everyone to come into my branch and experience Bank of Queensland’s excellent customer service as well as a full-range of personal and business banking products along with telephone and Internet banking. If people can’t make it into the branch I’m just as happy to see them at their work place or residence.

“My customers can also enjoy the added convenience of being able to phone me directly instead of having to go through a call centre – just another way Bank of Queensland differentiates itself and shows its commitment to offering great service,” Mr Rose said.

Bank of Queensland Managing Director David Liddy said the opening of the Bulimba branch increased the Bank’s branch network to 132 – an increase of 39 branches throughout Queensland in just over two years.

“Our Bulimba branch joins other inner-city BOQ branches opened in the past 18 months at New Farm, South Bank, Paddington, Windsor and the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital – we call it an inner-city banking renaissance,” Mr Liddy said.

BOQ Bulimba is located at Shop 4, 180 Oxford Street, Bulimba and can be contacted on phone 3906 1000.
