Bank of Queensland celebrates historical moment with the opening of its first Victorian branch

The local Frankston community was part of history-in-the-making today as they helped to celebrate the official opening of Bank of Queensland's first Owner-Managed Branch in Victoria.

Frankston is one of the Banks planned 100 new branches for Victoria and New South Wales over the next two years.

Chairman of Linfox Australia, Peter Fox, one of Bank of Queensland's Melbourne-based Directors, was on hand to help the local community celebrate the momentous occasion for the fast-growing regional bank and said he was delighted to be in Frankston to mark the new chapter in the Banks growth.

Not only is this a special day for Bank of Queensland but also for Frankston businesses and residents, who I believe will benefit from the Banks personal style of service, Mr Fox said.

As a Bank of Queensland Director it is extremely rewarding to be here to see first-hand the Banks interstate expansion plans come to fruition. I believe the Bank will be welcomed into the local community and will be an integral part of the growth in Frankston and eventually throughout Victoria as the Banks branch network continues to grow, he said.

Bank of Queensland Managing Director David Liddy reinforced Mr Fox's comments saying Bank of Queensland's unique Owner-Manager Branch concept, where the Bank partners with exceptional local bankers, would herald a new era in customer service in Victoria and New South Wales as it had done in Queensland.

The person who manages the branch also owns the branch. Like any small business, their livelihood depends on keeping their customers happy and going out of their way to ensure this happens, Mr Liddy said.

We are delighted to introduce to Frankston the three owner-managers of the Frankston branch who will be responsible for delivering this face-to-face service - John Hicks, Mark Nicholas and Jason Padam, he said.

Together they bring 40 years banking and finance experience to the local community and we are very proud to have them on board as part of the Bank of Queensland team and as the owner-managers of the Banks first branch in Victoria.

Bank of Queensland Frankston Owner-Manager John Hicks said he was excited about being part of a new era in banking for the Frankston and surrounding communities.

We are excited to be one of Bank of Queensland's first interstate branches and believe we will be able to make a significant difference to the way the local community can do their banking, Mr Hicks said.

We will go the extra mile, including opening on Saturday mornings and visiting customers at their business or residence. Being owner-managers means we are also small business owners ourselves and can relate directly to the needs of the SME market, he said.

BOQ prides itself on delivering the best customer service - offering customers the choice of face-to-face, telephone and Internet banking. There's also nothing better than when you ring a company and a person answers the phone and that's what happens at Bank of Queensland.

We see a lot of potential in Frankston and are here to support the development and growth of the local area and the wider Melbourne community.

The new Bank of Queensland Frankston branch will be located at 66 Wells Street and can be contacted on 03 9293 7500.

Bank of Queensland will also open a further three interstate branches at 455 Bourke Street in Melbournes CBD and North Parramatta and Kingscliff in New South Wales and as well two in its home state by the end of August.
