Bank of Queensland has cemented its commitment to the north-west suburbs of Brisbane today with the official opening of a new locally owned and managed Bank of Queensland branch in the fast-growing suburb of Keperra.
Brisbane radio personality and local resident Ian Skippen, of B105’s Morning Crew, was on hand to officially open the new banking facilities at a lively community celebration.
Bank of Queensland’s newest Owner-Managed Branch will be the growing suburb’s only bank. It will also service the surrounding suburbs of Mitchelton, Ferny Grove, Upper Kedron and even areas of Samford, which don’t have their own full-service bank.
Bank of Queensland now has five branches servicing the north-western suburbs, including at Arana Hills, Stafford, Lutwyche and Windsor.
Mr Skippen said: “I feel a strong synergy between the B105 Morning Crew and the Bank of Queensland in that we are both a part of and not apart from the community.”
“BOQ shows again its spirit by opening yet another branch in the Brisbane North West when others are bailing out.”
Bank of Queensland Managing Director David Liddy said the opening of the new branch was just another way Bank of Queensland was showing its dedication to its customers.
“We have been steadily restoring and improving the banking services available to Queensland communities, and are now beginning to open our first branches in New South Wales and Victoria,” Mr Liddy said.
“In Brisbane’s north-west suburbs alone, 16 other bank branches have closed their doors in the past decade. In contrast, we have opened 43 new branches in Queensland in under three years, bringing our branch network in this state to 139.”
The branch has been established under the Bank’s unique Owner-Managed Branch structure. It will be owned and managed by experienced bankers Rick Webb, Greg Ellis and Dian Duncan who will bring more than 75 years’ experience in retail and business banking to the community.
Mr Webb said they would offer a full range of personal and business banking products along with EasyPhone and Internet Banking services.
“Our goal is to make Bank of Queensland’s famed person2person customer service even more accessible to residents and businesses in Brisbane’s north-west,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to meeting the local community, building a long and rewarding association with them and being directly responsible for the service they receive.
“We invite everyone to come into the Keperra branch to find out how our team can help you find solutions to your banking, financial and insurance needs,” he said.
Bank of Queensland Keperra is located in the Great Western Super Centre, 1028 Samford Road, Keperra. The branch can be contacted on 3351 8655.
