The Bribie Island community gained a boost to their banking services today with the official opening of a new Bank of Queensland branch.
Federal Member for Longman and Assistant Treasurer, the Hon. Mal Brough, officially declared the new branch open at a community celebration with Bank of Queensland General Manager Retail Donna Brown and Bank of Queensland Bribie Island Owner-Manager Allan Coe.
In opening the branch, Mr Brough said he had seen Bank of Queensland go from strength to strength in recent years bringing traditional banking services back into communities.
“I have opened three Bank of Queensland branches in under three years and I believe this is testament to the Bank’s unwavering commitment to supporting local communities,” Mr Brough said.
“The opening of the new branch is great news for Bribie Island and I think if the turnout at today’s function is any indication, the local community will definitely welcome and show their support for the bank,” he said.
With more than 12 years’ banking experience, Bank of Queensland Bribie Island Owner-Manager Allan Coe said he was excited about being part of the Bribie Island growth story and bringing his banking knowledge and a ‘new-era’ in banking to the local community.
“I am pleased to take Bribie Island into a ‘new-era’ in banking by offering full banking services on the island six days a week by opening from 9 – 12pm on Saturdays. This is just one of the many ways that I am here to support the local community,” Mr Coe said.
“I encourage everyone to come into my branch and experience Bank of Queensland’s excellent customer service as well as a full-range of personal and business banking products along with telephone and Internet banking,” he said.
“If people can’t make it into the branch I’m just as happy to see them at their work place or residence.
“My customers can also enjoy the added convenience of being able to phone me directly instead of having to go through a call centre – just another way Bank of Queensland differentiates itself and shows its commitment to offering great service,” Mr Coe said.
Bank of Queensland General Manager Retail Donna Brown said the opening of the Bribie Island branch was just another way Bank of Queensland was showing its dedication to its customers.
“We have been steadily restoring and improving the banking services available to Queensland communities, opening 44 new branches in the State in under three years and we are now also beginning to open our first branches in New South Wales and Victoria,” Ms Brown said.
