Bank of Queensland has returned personal service to banking in Sydney's Northern Beaches with the opening of its latest branch at Dee Why and the news that more branches are on the way.
Owner-Managed Branches™ (OMBs ®) will also be opened shortly in Manly and other Sydney suburbs as Bank of Queensland fulfils its promise of opening 100 branches throughout New South Wales and Victoria over the next two years.
OMBs ® are a unique concept where experienced bankers actually own their branch, allowing them to offer the local community an unparalleled level of face-to-face service.
The Dee Why branch is the Bank's fourth in New South Wales and will be owned and managed by Sydney banker Patrick Chew, who brings to the community more than a decade of experience in banking and finance, including previous roles in Dee Why.
Mr Chew said although Dee Why had a range of branches and agencies, none offered the same level of friendly, personal and expert service that he, as branch Owner-Manager, could provide.
I believe my customers will benefit from the more comprehensive and personal banking service I can offer them, he said.
My 14 years' experience in retail and business banking on the Northern Beaches, my financial qualifications and my experience as State Manager for a big bank's Wealth Management division will bring an added dimension to banking here, particularly to business customers.
Unlike the other banks, I am empowered to make decisions based on my local knowledge and experience and, because I am a small owner-operated business like any other, I am really a part of the local community.
The Branch was opened by the Member for Wakehurst, Brad Hazzard.
"The Bank of Queensland's promise of personal service makes it a very welcome addition to the Dee Why banking scene, Mr Hazzard said.
It's great to see the vigour and enthusiasm of a new bank coming to Dee Why. Today we have new hope of a new banking era - back to the days of making people count."
Group Executive Retail Banking Donna Brown said experienced, service-driven bankers like Patrick Chew continued to approach the Bank for the chance to owner-manage their own BOQ branch.
We are able to choose the best of the best to become partners in our OMBs ®, Ms Brown said.
We are keen to increase our presence throughout the Sydney suburbs and will announce further sites throughout New South Wales and Victoria as they are confirmed, she said.
