Bank of Queensland opens in Richmond

Bank of Queensland boosted the banking services in Richmond today (3pm) with the official opening of a new locally owned and managed branch on Bridge Road.

Cr Kay Meadows, Mayor of Yarra City officially declared the Richmond branch open at a community celebration with Bank of Queensland Group Executive Retail Banking Donna Brown and Bank of Queensland Richmond Owner-Manager Nellie Dicks.

Ms Brown said the opening of the Richmond branch brings the number of Bank of Queensland branches in Victoria to six joining existing Bank of Queensland branches at Frankston, Geelong, Doncaster East and 455 Bourke Street and 163 Bourke Street in Melbourne’s CBD.

“All of Bank of Queensland’s new branches are being opened under the Bank’s unique Owner-Managed Branch model where the Bank partners with an experienced local banker and we are pleased to announce that the new Owner-Manager of Richmond branch is Nellie Dicks,” she said.

“We believe Nellie will make a significant different to the way the Richmond community can do their banking,” she said.

Mrs Dicks brings more than 20 years’ banking experience to the Richmond community.

Mrs Dicks said she hopes the local community will take a shine to her new bank, which she says will offer personalised service for every customer as well as extended trading hours.

“I will do whatever I can to cater for my customer’s banking needs, including opening on Saturday mornings from 10am – 1pm as well as visiting customers at their business or residence. Being an owner-manager means I am also a small business owner myself and can relate directly to the needs of the SME market,” Mrs Dicks said.

“I’m here to support the community with all their personal and business banking needs and I believe my two decades experience in Victorian banking with my knowledge of the local area will be a great benefit to the community.

“Bank of Queensland prides itself on delivering the best customer service – offering customers the choice of person2person™, telephone and Internet banking. There’s also nothing better than when you ring a company and a person answers the phone and that’s what happens at Bank of Queensland.

“That was part of the attraction in becoming a Bank of Queensland Owner-Manager. I want to treat my customers like I would like to be treated. I want to bring back the days of old fashioned banking where the local community knew their bank manager’s name and phone number.” she said.

Exclusive to Bank of Queensland Richmond is an opening interest rate special on the Premier Investment Account, which offers a rate of 5.4% p.a. (end of term) fixed for six months for amounts between $5,000 to $249,999. The offer is valid to close of business on 26 November 2004.
