Bank of Queensland brings new-fashioned service back to Grafton

Regional New South Wales has been treated to a very rare event - the opening, rather than the closure, of a bank branch.

The official opening of Bank of Queenslands latest New South Wales branch in Grafton by the Member for Page The Hon. Ian Causley has significantly enhanced the quality of financial services available to residents of the fast-growing regional community.

Branch Owner-Manager and local resident Peter Gibbons said the community's response to his new branch in the first few days of business had been awesome.

People in towns like Grafton really appreciate personal, face-to-face service, especially when it comes to dealing with something as important as their finances, Mr Gibbons said.

I grew up in the era of real bank managers and am a firm believer in the old-fashioned values of face-to-face service and going the extra mile for customers.

Because I own this branch, I can give my customers as much personal attention as they need, even after-hours or at their homes, if need be. I am on call to service their needs 24/7.

In just our first month, we have approved more than $3 million of new loans for the community and attracted many big bank customers dissatisfied with the level of service they were receiving and looking for a better banking alternative.

Bank of Queenslands Group Executive Retail Banking, Donna Brown, said Grafton was an excellent example of why the Banks Owner-Managed Branches worked so effectively.

Peter has more than 25 years experience in banking, including nearly a decade in Grafton and nearby Coffs Harbour. He knows his community and can make local decisions, Ms Brown said.

Peter has made a significant investment ion the local community and is here to stay - his customers are his life blood and he is dedicated to their satisfaction.

However, like any small business, Peter needs your support to make his branch work.

I would encourage residents and businesses to simply drop in over the coming weeks to see just what a difference having a real, personal bank manager can make.
