Lindsay Fox opens Bank of Queensland Armadale

Bank of Queensland's major shareholder and one of its largest customers, Lindsay Fox, today opened the Bank's latest venture in Melbourne, the Owner-Managed Branch in Armadale.

Mr Fox, Founder Fox Group Holdings, joined Bank of Queensland Managing Director David Liddy and Armadale branch Owner-Manager Darren Rogers to help the community celebrate the significant occasion.

Armadale is the Bank's tenth Owner-Managed Branch in Victoria and the twentieth outside its home State, the first tranche of 100 it will establish throughout Victoria, New South Wales and the ACT by August 2006.

In addition to the branch which opened for business in South Melbourne on Monday, another two branches are set to open in Hampton and Ringwood in the coming month.

Owner-Managed Branches are a concept unique to Bank of Queensland, allowing experienced bankers to own and manage their branch, partnering the Bank to provide their community with a superior level of face-to-face service.

Bank of Queensland's Managing Director David Liddy said the Owner-Managed Branch offered customers the best of both worlds the security and strength of a 130-year-old bank with the personal service and local knowledge of a small business.

"Bank of Queensland now has ten branches in Victoria and we continue to be approached by top-shelf banking entrepreneurs, like Darren Rogers, who want to be part of it," Mr Liddy said.

Mr Rogers brings to his branch more than 12 years' experience in corporate, business and personal banking and excellent local knowledge borne of eight years as a resident.

He said he had received overwhelming interest in the branch and had signed up many new customers looking for a genuine service alternative to the big banks.

"The fact that I own my own branch makes a great difference to the way I can assist Armadale, as I believe genuine personal service in banking is becoming harder and harder to find," he said.

"Being an Owner-Manager means I can personally assist my customers and spend enough time with them to fully meet their needs.

"Unlike the other banks, I can make local decisions and, because I am a small owner-operated business like any other, I am really a part of the local community. For example, my branch will open on Saturdays from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm for even greater customer convenience," he said.

Bank of Queensland Armadale is located at 1155 High Street and can be contacted on 9856 8100.
