The community’s very first bank branch was opened this week by two Chancellor Park residents who started their first jobs in banking on the front line.
The new Bank of Queensland Branch in Woolworth’s Marketplace will be owned and managed by husband and wife team, Gary and Janet Brennan who have almost 40 years’ combined experience in the banking and finance industry.
Bank of Queensland Managing Director David Liddy said the level of experience the Brennan’s had exemplified the quality of bankers attracted by the Bank’s Owner-Managed Branch (OMB) Model.
“They both have extensive experience. Janet has been in retail banking since she started as a teller at 16 and Gary has 19 years experience with a focus on Commercial and Retail lending. They make a great team,” Mr Liddy said.
The couple have lived with their children in the Chancellor Park estate for six years and are actively involved in the local community.
Mr Brennan said they were keen to build strong relationships with their customers and aimed to be the most desirable financial services company for the community.
“Our goal is to combine our skills and banking experience with the fresh approach to banking adopted by Bank of Queensland,” he said.
“We will be focusing on face-to-face contact with both new and existing customers of Bank of Queensland to create the feeling of ‘Our Bank’ in the community.
“The Sunshine Coast continues to enjoy strong growth with the population in the area surrounding the branch growing 60 percent faster than the state average,” he said.
“We have watched and participated in this growth from an informed position and will use this knowledge and experience in the day to day operations of the business.
“And to make it easier to do business with, we are open Saturday mornings so customers can do their banking with their Saturday morning shopping,” Mr Brennan said.
The Chancellor Park branch will increase the number of Bank of Queensland branches on the Sunshine Coast to 15, giving the Bank more points of face-to-face contact in the region than any other bank.
