Bank of Queensland’s 13th Victorian branch opens at 1 Queens Road

Melbourne has welcomed its 13th Bank of Queensland branch at 1 Queens Road, the branch’s value indicated by the involvement of two of the Bank’s Directors in the official opening ceremony.

Peter Fox, one of Bank of Queensland’s Melbourne-based Directors and Chairman of Linfox Australia, was on hand to help the local community celebrate the occasion.

Mr Fox said it was a special day for not just the Branch but also for St Kilda’s businesses and residents, who would benefit from the Bank’s personal style of service.

“As a Bank of Queensland Director it is extremely rewarding to see the Bank’s interstate expansion achieving so much success in my home town,” he said.

“The Bank has been welcomed into 176 local communities throughout eastern Australia and will be an integral part of the growth in Melbourne and eventually throughout Victoria as the Bank’s branch network continues to grow.”

Managing Director David Liddy reinforced Mr Fox’s comments saying Bank of Queensland’s Owner-Manager Branch model™ allowed experienced local bankers to both own and manage a branch in their local community, ensuring local decision-making and much higher standards of service for customers.

“By opening Owner-Managed Branches we allow experienced local bankers the opportunity to offer their community something different,” Mr Liddy said.

“The branch is a full service branch which offers a full range of banking services, unequalled personal service, and the safety and security of a 130-year-old financial institution.”

Owner-manager of the 1 Queens Road branch, Mark Nicholas, said he was looking forward to being responsible for delivering this face-to-face service.

“The branch is situated in the growing business district at St Kilda Towers and, with my 18 years’ experience in Victorian banking, I am keen to help the local businesses and residents find solutions to their financial needs,” Mr Nicholas said.

“Some people may not be aware that we provide home loans, commercial loans, equipment finance, trade finance and insurance, of which most can be approved right here in the branch.”

The branch has already experienced a flood of customers wanting to switch from the big banks.

Other Bank of Queensland branches opened recently in Abbotsford and Werribee with another to open at Fairfield in the next few months.
