Bank of Queensland opens Fairfield’s only bank

Fairfield, Victoria residents have finally had their calls for a local bank answered, with Bank of Queensland opening for business in the suburb.

Bank of Queensland’s newest Owner-Managed Branch™, owned and managed by local resident Nicholas Azar, has opened in Station Street, Fairfield and is already attracting customers disgruntled with other banks.

The unique Owner-Managed model™ allows experienced bankers to both own and manage a full-service branch, ensuring local decision-making and much higher standards of service for customers backed by the security of a 130-year-old financial institution.

Mr Azar said the Fairfield community’s growing disaffection with the big banks had forced them to try and find a better service experience.

“A lot of the new customers flooding into my branch this week are simply after good service – things like being greeted personally, having staff look them in the eye when they talk and being served promptly and professionally,” he said.

”As both manager and owner of this branch, I can personally ensure customers receive the very best service, something the head-office controlled corporate branches of other banks just can’t match.”

Fairfield is the latest in a flurry of Bank of Queensland Owner-Managed Branches to open in central Melbourne over the past six months, including those at Abbotsford, Armadale, Doncaster, Footscray, Hampton, Richmond, Ringwood, South Melbourne and Werribee and in the CBD

Bank of Queensland, Australia’s fastest-growing bank, has opened 45 Owner-Managed Branches (franchised branches) outside of Queensland in the past 18 months – 16 of those in Victoria.

Mr Azar said it was about time banking services in Victoria were given a shake-up.

“Many Australians are unhappy with long queues and poor and impersonal treatment they receive from their bank and I decided to do something about it,” he said.

“We are a locally-owned small business, which means we can make a big difference to the service we offer our customers.  We will make damn sure they are well looked after.

“We will be available for our customers whenever they need us, even after hours, and won’t force them to use an automated call centre when they need assistance,” Mr Azar said.

Bank of Queensland Fairfield is located at 104 Station Street and can be phoned directly on 9241 7000.
