Calls for better banking answered in Bondi

Calls from Bondi residents and businesses for better service from banks have been answered, giving them just what they always wanted – a bank that cares about its customers.

Bank of Queensland, whose newest Owner-Managed Branch™ opened this week in Westfield Bondi Junction, is already attracting customers disgruntled with other banks.

Bank of Queensland’s unique Owner-Managed model™ allows experienced bankers to both own and manage a full-service branch, ensuring local decision-making and much higher standards of service for customers backed by the security of a 130-year-old financial institution.

Bondi Owner-Manager Scott McCoy said the Bondi community’s growing disaffection with the big banks had forced them to try and find a better service experience.

“A lot of the new customers flooding into my branch are simply after good service – things like being greeted personally, having staff look them in the eye when they talk and being served promptly and professionally,” Mr McCoy said.

”As both manager and owner of this branch, I can personally ensure customers receive the very best service, something the head-office controlled corporate branches of other banks just can’t match.”

Bondi is the latest in a flurry of Bank of Queensland Owner-Managed Branches to open in Sydney over the past six months, including those at Burwood, Campbelltown, Carlingford Court, Castle Hill, Hornsby, Hurstville, Kellyville, Kensington, Maroubra Junction, North Sydney, Penrith, and Punchbowl.

Bank of Queensland, Australia’s fastest-growing bank, has opened 45 Owner-Managed Branches (franchised branches) outside of Queensland in the past 18 months – 27 of those in New South Wales.

Mr McCoy said it was about time banking services in New South Wales were given a shake-up.

“Many Australians are unhappy with long queues and poor and impersonal treatment they receive from their bank and I decided to do something about it,” he said.

“We are a locally-owned small business, which means we can make a big difference to the service we offer our customers.  We will make sure they are well looked after.

“We will be available for our customers whenever they need us, even after hours, and won’t force them to use an automated call centre when they need assistance.”
