Louise Markus welcomes banking service in Rouse Hill

The arrival of branch banking in Rouse Hill was welcomed last Friday night by Federal Member for Greenway, Louise Markus, at the official opening function of the new Bank of Queensland branch.

In opening the Owner-Managed Branch, Ms Markus said people entrusted banks with some of the most important financial decisions of their lives.

“That’s why the best banks offer personal face to face service and I am delighted that Bank of Queensland intends to bring this style of personal service to the Rouse Hill community”, she said.

Bank of Queensland NSW State Manager Stuart Edwards said the Owner-Managed Branch, conveniently situated in Panmure Street, had been attracting plenty of local interest.

“Like many of our New South Wales branches, the branch here in Rouse Hill has caused a lot of passers-by to wonder why a Queensland bank has opened here in Sydney,” Mr Edwards said.

“But when they find out the branch is locally owned, is staffed and managed by local people and offers personalised, face-to-face service to each and every customer, they understand why a Bank that has operated in Queensland for 130 years can take on the big banks in their home states and win.

“Owner-Managers Tony Monteiro and Harley Cohen are both highly qualified bankers with over 50 years’ experience in the industry, but they also care about their customers and making sure their needs are met.”

Mr Cohen said the reason their branch had enjoyed such support in the weeks since it opened was that locals were delighted to see a bank moving into the area which, despite being one of the fastest-growing areas in Sydney, has been ignored by the big banks for years.

“A lot of the new customers flooding into my branch are simply after good service – things like being greeted personally, having staff look at them and listen when they talk, and being served promptly and professionally,” Mr Cohen said.

Where most of the big banks have ignored the fast-growing community of Rouse Hill, and in contrast to more than a decade of branch closures by the big banks in Sydney and its suburbs, Bank of Queensland has opened 48 Owner-Managed Branches in New South Wales (including this newest branch in Rouse Hill) over the past few years.

Bank of Queensland is located at Shop 13, 40-46 Panmure Street, and can be phoned directly on 8814 5977.
