Redbank Plains’ first BOQ branch keeps its promise

Redbank Plains’ only locally-owned bank, Bank of Queensland, achieves a major milestone next week celebrating its first birthday.

Owner-Managers Kelby and Vanessa Williams said the Bank was really part of the local community, attracting hundreds of new customers and injecting more than $24m into the local community as home, personal and business loans in its first twelve months.

“Local people are gradually realising that we are different to the other banks and that we have done what we promised to do when we opened – to return friendly, face-to-face banking to the local community,” said Kelby.

“We like to think we are playing a major part in the ongoing development of Redbank Plains by offering better banking services for residents and additional resources and services for local businesses.”

Vanessa agreed, saying “Many of our new customers are realising the advantages of dealing directly with people they know and trust for their banking and finance needs.

“For example, Kelby is always available on mobile to help customers, even after-hours or on the weekends and we are the only bank in the area to open on Saturday morning so customers no longer need to give up their lunch hour to do their banking.

“We would like to thank the community for their strong support for what was a year ago an unusual concept – a bank which is owned by the people who serve behind the counter.”

Bank of Queensland Redbank Plains is located at Shop 11 and 12, Redbank Plains Shopping Village, corner Jones Road and Redbank Plains Road and can be contacted directly on 3814 5188.
