Bank of Queensland has launched the Google Map functionality on the Locate Us area of its website, making it the first Australian bank to provide this level of online service to its customers.
BOQ’s website boq.com.au now enables customers to find not only their nearest branch, the Branch Manager or Owner-Manager’s name and phone number, and the branch’s opening hours (which often include Saturdays), but also a map of the branch and the surrounding area.
In addition, the Google Maps on boq.com.au provide shopping centre overlays, which enable BOQ customers to locate exactly where in a shopping centre they can find their nearest BOQ branch.
The level of detail provided on the Google Maps on boq.com.au is unmatched by any other bank website in Australia.
BOQ Head of Direct Banking, Craig Broomfield, said the new functionality reinforced the Bank’s reputation as a leader in customer service in Australian banking.
“This new service really positions us at the forefront of online customer service in the Australian banking industry.
“Not only can our customers find their local branch details online, they can use our drag-able and pan-able satellite maps to view the surrounding area and work out the easiest way to get there.
“And the shopping centre overlay function is a special feature for boq.com.au. It is not a standard feature on Google Maps; it has been added to provide our customers with that extra level of convenience.
“Our Google Maps are also available when searching for your nearest ATM, and we have the most widespread ATM network of any Australian bank, so there are a lot to find!”
BOQ’s branch network now spans every state and territory in Australia, with a total of 222 branches in their ever-increasing network.
