Bank of Queensland’s Mackay Owner-Managed Branch has made the smart move, relocating to more professional and accessible premises to provide a better customer experience.
Owner-Manager Melissa Green said the new location on the corner of Sydney and Gordon Streets opposite the post office was easier to get to and offered dedicated five-minute parking out the front.
“The new branch, adjacent to the Coles shopping complex, is more comfortable and professional and offers private interview rooms to enhance the “boutique” banking feel that our customers enjoy,” Melissa said.
“It also means customers can do their banking when they go shopping or have other errands to run, so they don’t have to make a special trip.”
The move enhances convenience for all BOQ customers, including those who transferred from Pioneer Permanent Building Society, by spreading branches and ATMs more evenly around the CBD.
BOQ Mackay was converted to an Owner-Managed Branch last year during the integration of the Pioneer network and the franchise purchased by Melissa, the corporate branch manager at the time.
Melissa has lived in the Mackay area all her life and has 14 years' experience in retail and commercial banking and insurance.
The branch offers a “boutique banking” experience to every customer combined with the security of a 130-year-old financial institution, a full range of competitive products and the most widespread ATM network in Australia.
“My customers can ring me direct, either in the branch on 4967 4200 or on my mobile on 0418 708 112, and if they are unable to make it to the branch, I can come to them at home or their work,” Melissa said.
“The fact I am the owner of a local business means I will go out of my way to make sure my business and personal customers are happy. I can make local decisions so I don't have to refer every loan to a head office in another city.
“It really takes banking back to the grass roots, allowing us to offer a level of service the others just can’t match. Local people will appreciate the personal, face-to-face service and the hands-on, intimate approach to looking after their banking and finance needs.”
