The new manager at Bank of Queensland’s Mandurah branch is riding to the rescue of the area’s growing number of small businesses suffering from the off-hand, hands-off attitude of the big banks.
Paul D’Silva, who has more than 22 years’ experience in banking and finance, said he was looking forward to working with local businesses to help maximise their success.
“The personalised service Bank of Queensland offers retail customers is in many ways even more beneficial to small and medium-sized businesses, who are usually exceptional at what they do but may struggle when it comes to complex banking and finance transactions,” Paul said.
“Small business customers have been palmed off to call centres by the big banks for many years – I will reverse all that by providing a personal point of contact.
“With their complex and very individual financial needs, business owners have much to gain from our intimate, customer-centric approach to banking and the time our business bankers spend up front to fully understand their business, their competitive environment, their goals and their needs.
“I have a lot of experience in dealing with small businesses, so I know what makes them tick.
“And when it comes to larger or more complex transactions, I have direct access to business banking and finance specialists,” Paul said.
“Many retailers say that when it comes to finding a relationship manager who is on call to help you manage your business’ finances, a smaller bank is the way to go.
“I’d encourage all small businesses to review their banking situation and make sure their bank is pulling its weight in terms of helping you grow your business. If not, it might be time to switch,” Paul said.
