Bank of Queensland’s Wynnum branch has recently become the only bank in Wynnum to open on Saturday.

BOQ Wynnum Owner-Manager Graeme Smith says his bank is the first in the suburb to offer locals the added convenience of weekend banking, with the branch now open from 9am to 12 noon every Saturday.

“Saturdays are often the only time during the week people get to do their banking, so we’re excited to offer our customers more convenient banking hours that fit in with their needs,” Graeme said.

“It’s also an ideal time to make an appointment to see us about applying for a new home loan or having your current home loan package reviewed,” he said.

Graeme recently celebrated this milestone at his Wynnum branch when he presented a free gift hamper to one of the first customers to take advantage of Saturday trading, Mr Leslie Fereday.

When he bought the branch over six months ago, Graeme made a promise to give the community a unique local banking service and said he is proud to say he’s kept that promise.

“Opening my branch on Saturdays is part of my commitment to give local residents and businesses a superior banking experience that the other banks simply can’t match.

“I believe that every customer deserves two things from their bank, one-to-one personal service and expert banking advice, and at my branch you’ll get both.

“As the new owner, I’m really enjoying getting to know my customer base and genuinely becoming part of the local community.

“My branch is a proud sponsor of Wynnum Manly Seagulls Rugby League Club and also supports the Wynnum & Districts Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Program.

“We really enjoy being able to give something back to the community who supports us.

“After 35 years in the financial services industry, working for other banking and financial institutions and being self-employed for the past 10 years, I bought my own Bank of Queensland branch in Wynnum so I could do banking the right way – putting the customer first.

“And I think it’s great that my customers know my name and have my phone number – they can call me direct instead of being diverted to a call centre.
