About the Banking on our Kids appeal

What is Banking on our Kids?

Throughout July each year, Bank of Queensland mobilises its entire national network of 280 branches, business banking centres, state administration centres and head office staff behind its signature fundraising event, Banking on our Kids.

The Banking on our Kids appeal raises valuable funds for Children’s Hospital Foundations Australia, a partnership of children’s hospital foundations in Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia and South Australia.

This year, we’re calling on all Australians to ‘show how big your heart is’ by getting behind the appeal and helping us blitz our fundraising target of $100,000.

Who are CHFA and what do they do?

Children's Hospital Foundations Australia is a national partnership of uniquely child-focused foundations supporting leading paediatric hospitals.

Their vision is to end the suffering of sick children by supporting initiatives that generate breakthrough treatments and cures to make a difference.

Each member hospital is among Australia’s oldest and most respected children’s charities and drive dynamic

medical research programs that aim to find new treatments and cures for childhood disease. They are the

  • Royal Children's Hospital Foundation (Queensland);
  • Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation (New South Wales);
  • Royal Children's Hospital Foundation (Victoria);
  • Women & Children’s Hospital Foundation (South Australia); and
  • Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation (Western Australia).

There are few people in Australia whose lives have not been, or will not

be, touched by a children’s hospital, which treat or admit more than one million children each year.

Funds raised are channelled into paediatric research initiatives impacting the treatment and care of sick children. These projects range from complex laboratory investigations to studies at the bedside.

With the Foundations working together, it means less duplication and better use of resources. It also means that the money raised goes where it should go – into breakthrough treatments and cures to make a difference in the lives of sick and terminally ill children.

How you can help

This year, you can 'show how big your heart is' by purchasing a $2 Helping Heart card from your local Bank of Queensland or Home Building Society branch and writing a message of encouragement to a sick kid in hospital.

These Helping Hearts will not only raise significant funds for CHFA, they will also raise a kid's spirits.

You can also get behind any fund-raising events being conducted by the Bank of Queensland or Home branch in your community.

There are also a number of ways you can donate directly to the Banking on our Kids appeal.
