Dividends

Holders of ordinary shares can choose how their dividends are paid. This page explains the options and how to make a selection.

Dividend payment options

Holders of Bank of Queensland (BOQ) ordinary shares may choose how their dividends can be paid:

  • Direct credit (Australian holders) or cheque (non-Australian resident holders) - Bank of Queensland pays dividends by direct credit to a nominated bank account for all Australian residents.  Residents in other countries will receive payments by way of cheque drawn in Australian Dollars; or
  • Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP)* - If shareholders are Australian or New Zealand residents, or their address on the register of shareholders is in Australia or New Zealand, they can have their dividends on some or all of their ordinary shares automatically reinvested in additional shares by participating in the Dividend Reinvestment Plan. Refer below for full details, including how to register for the DRP.
  • Donate your dividends - Bank of Queensland shareholders have the chance to donate their cash dividend to the national Investing in Hope charity (PDF 589kb). If you would like to participate please contact the Investor Relations Manager on 07 3212 3463.

To change how you would like to receive your dividends, you can do this via written notification to Computershare Investor Services in Brisbane or online through the Computershare website, www.computershare.com.au. To make it easier we have provided a step by step instruction page on updating your dividend payment details online.

Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRP)

Shareholders can choose to have their dividends from some or all of their ordinary shares automatically reinvested into the Dividend Reinvestment Plan, and will receive the following benefits:

  • Shares issued at a discount of 2.5% on the weighted average sale price of the Bank's shares sold on the ASX.
  • Increase your shareholding; it's an optional and convenient way of increasing your holding of Bank of Queensland shares.
  • No additional costs. The shares issued to you under the DRP are free of brokerage, commission and stamp duty costs.
  • Shares issued under the DRP rank equally with existing shares.

On 26 November 2007 Bank of Queensland wrote to shareholders to advise of a change to clause 4.3 of the DRP Terms and Conditions which outlines the way in which the issue price of shares under the DRP is calculated. The amended DRP will first apply in relation to any interim dividend payable for the half year ending 29 February 2008.

Until 26 December 2007, the DRP issue price was calculated by way of a 2.5% discount to the weighted average sale price of BOQ shares over a five day pricing period following the Record Date for the dividend.

The amended DRP calculates the issue price by way of a 2.5% discount to the arithmetic or simple average of the daily volume weighted average share prices during the pricing period.  This will help avoid the issue price being artificially skewed by the trading of large volumes of shares significantly above the daily average on one or more days in the pricing period. Some types of share transactions outside the ordinary course of ASX trading are also excluded from the calculation of the issue price.

Details of the DRP's operation are contained in the terms and conditions (PDF 441kb).
