We’re excited to offer you the opportunity to truly make an impact on your career and our customers, by joining BOQ’s Internship Program.

Over the 12 week program, you’ll get to work on meaningful work which will provide you with the diverse experiences you need to take the first steps in your career in financial services. Working in your preferred team, you’ll have a support network of leaders, team members, mentors and learning facilitators. This support team will help you develop technical knowledge and interpersonal skill, on-the-job and through business projects and formal training.

You’ll also need the following to join our BOQ Group Internship Program:

  • You will be in your penultimate year of either undergraduate or postgraduate study;
  • You will be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand; and
  • You will be completing a university degree in (but not limited to) the following discipline/s: Business, Commerce, Economics, Banking, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Science, Computer Science, Law, Engineering and/or Quantitative Finance.
  • BOQ operates a number of brands which offer a diverse range of products and services for our personal and business customers.

What is the application process?

  1. Application Form

    The application form is your chance to tell us all about your skills and experience. You'll also need to upload your resume.

  2. Online Assessment

    Once we have reviewed your application, we’ll let you know if you are successful in moving through to the next stage via email. If successful, we will send you a link to complete an online cognitive assessment to better understand your learning agility.

  3. Video Interview

    This stage will give us a deeper understanding of who you are, and provides a great opportunity for you to share a little bit about yourself with us. If you are successful through to this stage from the online assessment - we will send you a link to complete the video interview. You’ll be asked a few questions and you’ll need to record your responses.

  4. Interview with the Team

    As the final stage of the recruitment process, we’ll invite you to attend an interview with the hiring team. The interview will give you the opportunity to hear more about the Internship Program, meet some of the Leadership Team in your chosen business area and demonstrate your capabilities.

  5. Receiving an Offer

    If you are successful, we will contact you shortly after the assessment centre with the exciting news! We will then commence the relevant background checks regarding your application.

  6. Starting with BOQ

    Our successful interns will then join our team.

Do I have to have a finance background for the Internship Program?

No, applications are welcome from Interns from a wide range of disciplines including but not limited to; business, banking, economics, accounting, finance, human reasources, mathematics, statistics, actuarial science, marketing, computer science, law, engineering and/or quantitative finance.

Is the Intern Program Full Time?

Yes. Interns in the program will work five days a week for the 12 week program (minus business holiday shutdown) in our Newstead, Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne office.

When do I need to graduate?

Applications are welcome from students who are in their penultimate year of undergraduate or postgraduate study. This means you will need to be graduating from your degree by December 2025 to participate.

Will I get a job with BOQ Group after the 12-week program?

Upon successful completion of the 12 week program high performing Interns will be first in line for jobs upon their graduation! Many interns stay on at the bank working part time while they finish their degree.

What work rights do I need?

You will need citizenship or permanent residency in Australia or New Zealand to be a part of the program.
