BOQ Strathpine Insures Local Students see Canberra

Bank of Queensland Strathpine is helping a year seven group from Holy Spirit school at Bray Park travel to Canberra, by covering the cost of travel insurance for the 35 students and six teachers going.

BOQ Strathpine Owner-Manager Sean Cawley said he had been keen to get involved with the local community and was excited to be making his first foray into sponsorship.

“Our team at the branch are really passionate about the local community and we’re all really excited to be getting behind the kids at the Holy Spirit school.

“It all came about when I was chatting to a customer who is a teacher at the school and who mentioned the Canberra trip.

“We’d been looking for a way to show our support for the local community and this just seemed like an obvious way to get involved – by offering one of the products we have here at the branch, travel insurance.

“We’re so excited that we’re helping this group of bright young minds get to see the nation’s capital, and we can’t wait to talk to them when they get back and hear how it all went.”

Sean and his team have also recently helped out the Strathpine Under 14 Indoor Netball team with 11 sports bags for their upcoming state carnival.

“We love being a part of the Strathpine community and are really enjoying getting out there and showing our support.

“Since converting Strathpine branch to an Owner-Managed Branch 10 months ago we have had such a great time and are really getting to know our local community,” said Sean.

“A lot of our customers have become firm friends, which is exactly the way we always wanted it!”

“I’d like to think that my team and I are playing a major part in the ongoing development of Strathpine by offering better banking services for local residents and additional resources and services for local businesses and their employees.

“And I think local people have realised that we are different to the other banks and that we have done what we promised to do when we converted to the Owner-Managed model – to provide friendly, face-to-face banking to the local community.

“In fact, many of our customers have commented on the advantages of dealing directly with people they know and trust for their banking and finance needs.”
