What is a credit card?

A credit card allows you to borrow money or get ‘credit’ from a bank or credit card company to make purchases or withdraw cash. It’s a card with a set amount of funds (called a 'limit’) you can access at any time. This limit is set when you apply for a card. When you use a credit card, you are essentially taking out a loan that you must repay and may incur interest and fees. Some credit cards come with rewards programs that reward you with points for everyday spending.

What is a low interest credit card?

A low interest credit card is one that charges a lower purchase interest rate than the market average in Australia, helping you save significantly if you don’t pay off your balance in full every month.

How does credit card interest work?

The interest incurred on your credit card is charged when you don’t pay off your full balance by the set due date on your credit card statements. How much interest you’ll pay will depend on the type of card you have, how much you have spent and when you make your repayments. Most credit cards also have an annual charge which is separate to credit card interest.

Can you withdraw cash with a credit card?

Yes, you can withdraw up to AUD $1,000 cash per day using your BOQ Credit Card. Fees and charges will apply, view our credit card fees and charges guide for more information.
