Commercial Swimming Stars to Benefit From BOQ Sponsorship

Tuesday, 09/12/2008

Two history-rich Queensland icons came together this week when Bank of Queensland’s Redbank Plaza branch became the new major sponsor of the Commercial Swimming Club based at the Valley pool.

BOQ Redbank Plaza Owner-Managers, Stephen and Fiona Casey presented a $3,000 cheque to current Olympian and Commercial Swimming Club Captain, Christian Sprenger, at the Club’s final swim meet for 2008 last Tuesday night.

Stephen said he was thrilled to be involved with such a prestigious and long-standing Brisbane sporting institution.
“Commercial Swimming Club is the oldest and longest running Brisbane based club, and I am delighted to become part of its history and support its future growth.

“I have been involved with the Club for three years and it’s great to be able to give something back.”

Commercial Swimming Club President, Andrew La Spina said the club is proud to have Bank of Queensland Redbank Plaza as its major sponsor and will be putting the money to good use.

“With the $3,000 from BOQ Redbank Plaza we’ll be able to upgrade the Club’s website and expand our junior programs in 2009.

“We’ve had a lot of youngsters join the Club in the past year and it’s great to be able to put more funds towards their coaching and nurturing their development.

“After all, they are our Olympians of the future.”
