Bank of Queensland has launched the first in-branch foreign currency ATM in Australia, making it even easier for Aussies to grab some cash before heading overseas.

Group Executive People and Corporate Services Daniel Musson said the new ATM offered convenience and access for increasingly time poor Australians.

“Our new foreign currency ATM makes it easy for people to dash into the branch, grab their foreign currency and dash out again, without having to wait to speak to a teller.

“The new ATM, conveniently located at our new 116 Queen Street branch in Brisbane, carries US Dollars, British Pounds, Euros and New Zealand Dollars.

“So all you have to do is put in your debit card, select the currency you want and the amount, and the screen will show you the exchange rate, the equivalent Aussie dollar value on the screen and the fee, so you know exactly what it’s costing you.

“It’s a godsend for busy people who need to grab some currency as they’re doing their last minute pre-holiday errands in the city.

“It’s just another service BOQ offers and demonstrates our commitment to making doing your banking as easy as possible.”

This new service and technology is provided by Travelex, the world’s largest foreign exchange company. Travelex Partner Business Regional Director, Graham Perry, said that the launch of this new ATM provides travellers with even better options for arranging their travel money ahead of time.

“Having local cash is a must from the minute you arrive in a new country and changing money after a long flight is the last thing people want to do. We are very pleased to be supporting BOQ by providing this service 24/7 through their 116 Queen St, Brisbane branch and helping to offer travellers a far more convenient way to be ready to start their adventure as soon as they arrive,” Mr Perry said.

For people taking large amounts of cash overseas, the Travelex Cash Passport is a very secure and convenient way to access local currency at over 1 million Visa ATMs and is also accepted at over 24 million retailers worldwide.

The Cash Passport is an ideal addition to taking foreign cash and can be arranged instantly over the counter at any BOQ branch, including the Queen St, Brisbane branch.

“With the addition of this new Foreign Currency ATM, travellers can now sort all their travel money needs in a matter of minutes in the one location.” Mr Perry added.
