Local Bankers Make Personal Service Their Story

Experienced local bankers Jason Murray and Andrew Highman are making personal service their story after recently purchasing the BOQ branch in Darwin.

The new Owner-Managers, who have more than 40 years of banking experience between them, are excited about buying their own branch and offering Darwin residents and businesses the personal banking experience they deserve.

“After working in the banking industry for many years, we both realise the importance of offering personalised service to our customers,” Andrew said.

“And it’s only since we became the Owner-Managers of our BOQ branch that we feel we can truly deliver on this service proposition and show our customers how banking should be.”

Jason agreed, saying "We decided to buy the Darwin branch to give us the opportunity to provide a complete banking service for our customers.

“A lot of our larger competitors talk about doing this but often fail to deliver, particularly in the small business market.

“Andrew and I both have a strong reputation for delivering exceptional personal service in the SME market and have the expertise to offer local businesses, regardless of their size, expert business banking advice and products.”

Andrew, who has lived in Darwin for 15 years, says he also believes local SMEs will benefit from his and Jason’s new partnership at BOQ.

“We’ve worked with many small business customers over the years and have been very successful in helping them achieve their business and financial goals.

“Now that we are small business owners ourselves, we are even better placed to assist SME customers because we understand exactly what it takes to run a business and the challenges that arise.

“Having a stake in our branch as Owner-Managers means that our livelihood depends on the service we give, so that’s why we’ll always go above and beyond for our customers.

“I’d encourage all small businesses to review their banking situation and make sure their bank is pulling its weight in terms of helping you grow your business, and if you find that they’re not, then it might be time to consider switching,” Andrew said.

BOQ Darwin has also received a makeover, with new BOQ branded signage recently installed to officially change the name of the branch from Bank of Queensland to BOQ.

“We’re really excited about our new look BOQ branch, and looking forward to running it like it’s our own business, which it is!” Jason said.

“I believe our quality of service, experience, access to multiple ATMs, easy branch access and brand new signage will really set us apart from other banks in Darwin.”

Andrew said he is most looking forward to building strong community and business relationships and offering an unrivalled personal banking experience for his customers.

“Customers deserve bank managers who know them and their story and have the experience to best meet their banking needs.

“Jason and I are your local Owner-Managers in Darwin; we’re here for the long haul and committed to making banking personal again,” Andrew said.

BOQ has 269 branches around the country, of which 187 are Owner-Managed Branches (OMBs).

Andrew and Jason are assisted at the branch by Customer Service Manager Tanya Dun, Customer Service Officers Yevgeniya May and Azhar Latif and are in the process of employing another staff member to join their team.
