BOQ Welcomes Sedgwick Report and Supports Industry-Wide Reforms

Wednesday, 19/04/2017

Bank of Queensland (BOQ) today welcomed the recommendations following the extensive review into retail banking remuneration by Mr Stephen Sedgwick AO.

BOQ’s Group Executive Retail Banking Matt Baxby said as a relationship bank we are very supportive of these reforms that are designed to improve customer outcomes and restore the community’s trust in Australia’s banking sector.

“At BOQ we have been proactive with the establishment of an Ethics Committee in 2015 and have been rolling out ethics training to our staff since early last year,” Mr Baxby said.

“Conduct reform across the industry is vital. BOQ together with the sector is taking a series of actions to make banking easier and more transparent for customers. As part of this, BOQ has appointed a Customer Advocate.”

BOQ is currently in the process of developing a strategy to implement the recommendations over time.
