From the try line to the laundry line: BOQ brings Queensland Reds and Orange Sky partnerships together for Queenslanders

18 February 2026

Bank of Queensland (BOQ) is bringing its Queensland Reds and Orange Sky partnerships together through a new season-long initiative that turns rugby moments into meaningful support for Queenslanders doing it tough.

As part of BOQ’s “Every Try for Orange Sky” initiative, the bank will donate to Orange Sky for every try scored by the Queensland Reds at home games throughout the men’s 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season, transforming on-field performance into practical community impact.

The initiative builds on BOQ’s sponsorship of the Queensland Reds and its national charity partnership with Orange Sky, supporting the organisation’s free laundry, shower and conversation services that help restore dignity and connection for people experiencing homelessness.

BOQ Group Senior Community Investment Manager, Laura Churchill, said the initiative reflects BOQ’s identity as the Bank for Queenslanders and its commitment to backing the communities it serves.

“The Reds inspire us through performance, and Orange Sky inspires us through connection,” she said.

“A try can change the game. A conversation can change a life. Together, they help us champion the Queensland spirit of backing each other.”

The initiative also reflects the strong alignment between BOQ and the Queensland Reds, with both organisations sharing deep Queensland roots and a commitment to supporting local communities across the state.

Queensland Reds squad member, Will McCulloch said: "Every Try for Orange Sky initiative supported by the Bank of Queensland is fantastic—it’s a way to make a positive difference for Queenslanders doing it tough.

"Back in Year 12 at Padua College, I was part of a group of mates who volunteered on a van, offering food and support to people experiencing homelessness. That experience showed me how much even small acts of kindness can mean.

"To know that every Reds try at home is helping Orange Sky make life a bit easier for others in the community will give a special meaning to everyone."

Orange Sky Chief Executive Officer Lucas Patchett said: "We're incredibly grateful for BOQ's ongoing support in helping us to positively connect communities. With their help, and the dedication of Queensland Reds, we can continue to provide our essential services of clean laundry, safe showers and positive connection for people experiencing homelessness and hardship across Australia and New Zealand."

"We value building strong connections, and this partnership will allow us to reach more people and families who need a helping hand, or even just a friendly face to chat to.”

BOQ’s “Every Try for Orange Sky” initiative will kick off on 27 February, when the Queensland Reds play the Highlanders at home, and will run throughout the men’s 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season.

BOQ will double all donations on 27 February to kick off the initiative, as well as during the Charity Round on 4 April 2026, increasing the impact for Orange Sky and the Queenslanders it helps.
