General

  • Why can't I view documents such as the Financial Services Guide?

    These documents are saved as Adobe PDF files, you will require Adobe Acrobat Reader to view them. Adobe Acrobat Reader is free to download from here.  If you already have Adobe Reader and are still having a problem viewing the document, it may be because you have an older version of Adobe Reader.

  • How long will the online application take to complete?

    The following table illustrates the approximate time to complete the online application per product range:

  • How long will it take for the bank to process my application and notify me?

    The following table illustrates the approximate time required for the bank to process your application:

  • What documents do I require?

    The required documentation is dependant upon whether or not you are an existing BOQ customer and also the product you are applying for.

    The table below identifies the required documents:

    Please Note:

    All applications which have two parties (i.e. joint application or additional card holder), if one of the parties is not an existing BOQ customer the application process will be treated as if both parties are new BOQ customers.

  • What can I use as proof of income?

    Please submit your last two original payslips.  If you have been with your current employer for less than two years we require the two payslips from your current employer and the name and address of your previous employer.  If you are starting a new job, we require two payslips from your previous employer and a copy of the employment contract with your new employer.

    We currently only accept Online Applications for lending products (i.e. Credit cards) for PAYG employees i.e. not from self employed applicants.

  • How do I transfer my accounts over from another bank?

    There are a couple of ways you can transfer regular payments to your BOQ account or Credit Card, you can contact the company submitting the payment directly and provide them with your new BSB and account number or card number details or alternatively you can use the template letter created by BOQ and send this to the company. The sample letter contains your old and new payment details.

  • Why do you need my drivers licence number?

    Your drivers licence number helps us identify you.

Identification

  • What do I need to satisfy Customer Identification Requirements?

    Under current government legislation, customers of financial institutions need to satisfy Customer Identification Requirements when opening an account.  To assist you with identifying the types of documentation that are acceptable, please see a summary of some of the forms of documentation that may assist you below.  Remember, the branch must sight original documents. BOQ reserves the right to require further proof of identity even if ALL the necessary identification documents are presented.

    To identify and verify your identity one of the following document combinations must be held (photocopies of original current documents) and verified as originals in your branch:

    • Two (2) A documents (A+A); or
    • One (1) A document AND one (1) B document (A+B); or
    • One (1) A document AND one (1) C document (A+C); or
    • Two (2) B documents (B+B); or
    • One (1) B document AND two (2) C documents (B+C+C)
    • One (1) D document for Special Cases Only

    Please select your documents from the different categories in the following table. Remember that the branch must sight the original documents and all documents presented must be in the same name.

    • Debit or credit card (1 per institution)
    • Student photo identification card (issued by an Australian Tertiary Education Institution)
    • Government or utilities service provisions (< 3 months)
    • School Principal Letter (< 3 months)
    • Government notice of financial benefit (< 2 months)
    • Bank statements (records for 12 months or more)
    • Rental agreement (residential or business premises)
    • Blue card - issued by Commission for Young People and Child Guardian (CYPCG)
    • Firearms Licence
    • Land titles office records
    • Defence Force identification card
    • Gaming licence (Australian Government issued)
    • Government notice of tax debt (< 2 months)
    • MINORS - Student photo identification card (issued by an Australian Primary/Secondary school. Must include name, DOB or address to be acceptable)
  • What can I do if I can’t satisfy Customer Identification Requirements?

    If you do not have suitable documentation to complete the Customer Identification requirements then you should contact our Customer Contact Centre on 1300 55 72 72 or your nearest branch.

    For deposit products a Certified Copies Form is able to be used where it is inconvenient to attend a branch.  This form is available by application only. Follow these steps to complete the form:

    1. Choose an Acceptable Certifier from the ‘Permissible Certifier Categories’  list on page two of the Certified Copies form. Please make sure you carefully read the ‘Permissible Certifier Categories’ list before selecting an Acceptable Certifier.

    2. You must provide the Bank with certified copies of specific identification documents per the above table. The acceptable combinations are as follows:

    • Two (2) A documents (A+A) or
    • One (1) A document AND one (1) B document (A+B) or
    • One (1) A document AND one (1) C document (A+C) or
    • Two (2) B documents (B+B) or
    • One (1) B document AND two (2) C documents (B+C+C)

    3. Select your primary and secondary identification verification documents from categories A,B and C.

    4. You will need to make copies of each of the identification documents you choose and take both the originals and the copies to your Acceptable Certifier. 

    5. Your Acceptable Certifier will be required to complete the ‘Certifier Checklist’ on page 2 of the form. Please note that the  Acceptable Certifier must sign the copy of the original identification used.

    6. Send your completed form along with the signed copies of your identification to:

Credit Card Applications

  • Who can apply for a Credit Card online?

    The following conditions must be met for an online application:

    • All applicants must be Australian residents with an Australian address within a State or Territory
    • The Account must be in personal names (no Company or Trading Accounts)
    • The applicant must be over 18 years of age
    • If an additional cardholder is requested, they must be over 16 years of age
  • How long will the online Credit Card application take to complete?

    The online Credit Card application will take approximately 20 minutes to complete, assuming you have all the necessary information on hand.

  • How long will it take for the bank to process my application and notify me?

    You will be notified of the outcome of your Credit Card application within 2 bank business days from submission of the electronic application.

    Please note: if your application for a Credit Card is approved, the approval is conditional upon your nominated branch receiving the required documentation and confirmation of your employment. The credit card application will not proceed without the required income documentation or confirmation of employment.

  • What documents do I require?

    The required documentation is dependent upon whether or not you are an existing BOQ customer.

    To apply for a BOQ Credit Card, you will require the following documents:

    • Identification documents, including address details
    • Your income and expense details
    • Your employment details

  • Why do you need my employer's details?

    Your employer will be contacted to verify your employment status.

  • What do I need to satisfy Customer Identification requirements?

  • Can I apply for an additional card?

    Yes. As part of the Credit Card application you have the option to apply for an additional card. As the principal account holder (PCH) you are responsible for all transactions made on your account. The additional cardholder (ACH) has access to the same credit limit as the principal account holder.

  • How do I add an additional cardholder?

    To add an additional cardholder on an existing BOQ Credit Card:

    • Select your Credit Card account in BOQ Internet Banking, select ‘Q Rewards / Other Card Functions’ and then select the ‘Add and Additional Cardholder’ function; or
    • Visit your nearest BOQ branch.
  • How many additional cardholders may I attach to my card?

    BOQ permits a maximum of four additional cardholders.

  • How can I transfer my other credit card or store card balances to my credit card?

    As part of the Credit Card application you have the option to request balance transfers from other non-BOQ Credit Cards or store cards. If you require a balance transfer after you have your new BOQ Credit Card, you can request a balance transfer by: 

    • Accessing the ‘Request a Balance Transfer’ function within the Q Rewards / Other Card functions in BOQ Internet Banking. Q Rewards / Other Card functions can be found when you select your Credit Card account;
    • Visiting your nearest BOQ branch; or
    • Calling 1300 55 77 72 and following the prompts for Credit Card customers
  • How secure is my online application?

    All pages are encrypted with 128-bit SSL encryption.

Home Loan Applications

  • Who can apply online?

    The following conditions must be met for an online application:

    • All applicants must be Australian residents with an Australian address within a State or Territory where there is a BOQ branch
    • The Account must be in personal names (no Company or Trading Accounts)
    • All applicants must be over 18 years of age
    • Joint accounts (where applicable) can be up to a maximum of two account holders 
  • How can I add another account holder to the account?

    When applying online for a Home loan we cater for a maximum of two account holders.  If you wish to add additional account holders or signatories please visit your local BOQ branch.

  • Can I apply online if I have a guarantor?

    No. We do not currently accept online applications where a guarantor is required.  Please visit your local BOQ branch or call the Customer Contact Centre on 1300 55 72 72 to discuss your options.

  • Can I open a Fixed Interest Rate Home loan?

    Yes, just select 'Fixed Rate Home Loan' on the 'Product Details' page within the online application.
