Bank of Queensland Rockingham is throwing a line to a group who is used to helping others, the Rockingham Volunteer Sea Rescue Group (RVSRG).

The Rockingham Volunteer Sea Rescue Group is a group of 63 boating enthusiasts who volunteer their time and effort to ensure sea-faring locals return from their journeys safe and sound.

BOQ Rockingham Branch Manager Margaret Mary Pollock said she and her team were thrilled to sponsor the RVSRG, and to be able to give something back to a group so used to giving.

“We’re really delighted to be able to sponsor the Rockingham Volunteer Sea Rescue Group and hope that our $2,000 in sponsorship money will go some way towards the necessary equipment and support needed to keep this vital operation running,” she said.

“We’re also happy to be able to offer RVSRG members special banking packages and look forward to building a working relationship with the selfless volunteers of this fantastic group.”

Rockingham Volunteer Sea Rescue Group Commander John Reilly said the Group relied on the support of sponsors like Bank of Queensland to be able to continue operating and serving the local community.

“Our Rescue Group depends on community support for our continued operations and we really value having the support of a strong partner like Bank of Queensland,” Mr Reilly said.

“On behalf of Rockingham Volunteer Sea Rescue Group, I would like to express my gratitude to Margaret Mary and her team at BOQ Rockingham and we hope all our local boaties enjoy safe and enjoyable boating all year ‘round.”

About Rockingham Volunteer Sea Rescue Group
Over the years the group has grown to some 63 active members, some who perform radio duties in the recently refurbished tower at headquarters and others who man one of the rescue boats. Boat crews are on stand-by for a period of 24 hours, with crews rotating over a 7 day period, 365 days a year.

They operate out of a modern building located at Point Peron.

RVSRG also has administration staff who perform a variety of duties throughout the week.  All members are volunteers.

RVSRG’s radios are manned from 0600 hours to 2200 hours (during summer) and from 0700 hours to 1800 hours (during winter) 7 days a week, and the phones are manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
