BOQ Helps to Rebuild 100 Community Groups
Wednesday, 31/08/2011
Since January BOQ has helped more than 100 community groups impacted by the floods to get back on their feet through the Bank’s Rebuilding Communities Program.
BOQ, through its network of Branch Managers and Owner-Managers around Queensland, was able to identify more than 100 sporting groups, charities and community groups in flood-affected areas that needed help.
BOQ Group Executive, Strategy and Customers, David Tonuri, said it was heart-breaking to see so many people lose so much but they were grateful that we were able to help them out.
“Because our branches are a real part of the communities in which they operate, seeing the hardship caused by the floods and cyclones at the start of this year was brought even closer to home for our staff," said David.
“But because they do really understand their local communities, they were in a unique position to identify the community groups that really needed help getting back on their feet after the floods.
“So through their local knowledge, BOQ has been able to donate more than $250,000 to 101 community organisations throughout Queensland.
“It’s been a huge logistical program and I really want to thank all of the BOQ people who threw themselves behind our Rebuilding Communities Program.
“Being able to help rebuild our local communities means a lot to BOQ. Our local community has supported us over the years to help grow our business and we’re thrilled we could return the favour by helping our community get back on its feet as quickly as possible.”
